CanDo’s Napa Food Project is an innovative way to fight hunger in our communities. It involves the power of CanDo volunteers, one green bag at a time. Through this project, CanDo has greatly increased the amount of non-perishable food donated to the CANV Food Bank annually.

Yes, you can! There are a couple of options:
• Write a check payable to Napa Food Bank and give to your Neighborhood Coordinator on the pickup day.

• Visit the CANV website to make an online donation directly to the Food Bank.

Sign up and fill a bag every other month.
Neighbors like you sign up to be regular Food Donors. Each week when you go food shopping, buy an extra non-perishable item (or two) and store it in the nifty, reusable green bag we give you.
Put the bag outside your front door.
Every two months — on the second Saturday of every even-numbered month — you’ll receive a reminder to put your green bag of food outside your front door.
Your Neighborhood Coordinator picks up your bag and delivers it to the CANV Food Bank.
At the CANV Food Bank, CanDo volunteers wait to unload, weigh and sort the food. Each pick-up day, CanDo brings in over 10,000 pounds of food. That averages 8,333 meals!
Attend 60-minute orientation.
Learn the process and receive supplies.
Recruit your neighbors or work colleagues.
Ask them if they would like to be involved in this easy and powerful project to help the hungry in Napa County. Sign them up and give them a green bag!
Pick up green bags and deliver to the CANV Food Bank Warehouse, the second Saturday of even-numbered months.
Deliver your green bags to the CANV Food Bank Warehouse where cheerful volunteers will unload your car. You will receive new supplies for next time. You needn’t get out of your car.

About 1-2 weeks before the pickup day, we’ll send you an email with a link to sign up for a shift at the warehouse. Shifts are 8:30 – noon.
Dress accordingly.
Wear layers — the warehouse temperature is unpredictable. Sturdy shoes will protect your feet from falling cans of food!
